Photo Realism Art

Photo-realism was a form of art that became popular in the 1960's as a response to Minimalism. Like many art movements of this time period, it was developed by artists who were concerned with challenging what art meant to the public. Photo-realistic framed art was based off of the rise of photography as a graphic medium and was concerned with extremely detailed, precise renderings of a variety of subjects.

Photo-realism is a highly technical art category. For these artists, portraying the truth of the subject is key, as is reconciling the emotion, composition, and movement of any given element of their painting. Because of the amount of detail involved, most artists use photographs and specific techniques in order to develop these extremely realistic works. However, ever since its development, these photographic works have astounded viewers with their realism and the amount of technical skill required to bring the artists' vision to life.

Loran Speck is a highly respected photo-realist. He first began his work after developing a fascination for science illustration, which caused him to develop his talent for intricate details. His still life works feature strong lines, calm compositions, and a timeless simplicity that helps to draw the viewer into contemplation of the superbly depicted forms. These qualities are especially showcased in his work, 'Arch with a View', which is not only a perfect example of his unique style but also effectively depicts the qualities that have made photo-realistic art on canvas such a memorable and loved art form.

Although the style of photo-realism is easily recognizable and unique, it can be effectively combined with other modes of art, including surrealism, impressionism, or optical art. These works can be in color or achromatic, depending on the purpose of the work. Because of the photographic qualities of this category, the amount of diversity displayed is an asset to consumers who are considering purchasing art for the home or office. Literately any subject can be found in photo-realism including classical still life works, fantasy art, portraiture, animals, and much more, which make this art form suitable for matching any decor.
