Cappuccino Art

Cappuccino art has been an integral part of cafe and interior designs for a long time. The reason behind this subject's popularity comes largely from the fact that a cappuccino is one of the most iconic drinks in a barista's arsenal. For consumers, this art category has a lot of stylish flair and warmth to offer any modern decorative style. What makes cappuccino art different from other forms of coffee artwork is the depiction of the archetypical foam that these latte’s have. However, if typography or other indicators are used specifying that the drink is a cappuccino, rather than regular coffee, it can be portrayed in the midst of the preparation process, as seen in Michael Kungl's stylish work 'Cappuccino Fresco'.

The most commonly seen cappuccino art portrays this type of coffee in richly colored flat styles which focus heavily on graphic design principles. An example of this kind of work is in 'Cup of Joe II' by Veronique Charron, who's warm color palette and quirky designs make it ideal for a home or business. However, many other styles exist, including Cubist, representational, and art deco varieties.

Many pieces of cappuccino art feature warm color palettes containing reds and browns as the central colors. Using these colors reinforces the artworks' theme of warmth and comfort, emotions which are generally experienced when enjoying a latte and which the artist tries to convey through their work. However, a warm color palette isn’t a necessary aspect of cappuccino art since several talented artists attempt, and succeeds, in defying this convention within their own paintings, as shown by Petrina Sutton in her painting, 'Cappuccino', which features the beverage in cool colors such as green, blue, white, and black. This color choice gives her work an edgy feel and is meant to portray the attitude of the people drinking it, rather than the beverage itself. Instead of being a representation of a warm latte, Petrina Sutton displays the feelings of suave sophistication and cool intellectualism that are typically associated with people who enjoy this beverage.
