Triceratops Art

Though adults and children often have drastically different opinions on subjects of interest to them, one subject which people of all ages seem to universally agree upon as absolutely fantastic is dinosaurs. From the crayon drawings of schoolchildren captivated by ancient creatures to the adults who enjoy taking in all manner of pop culture and cinema related to the giants that once walked the earth, dinosaurs dominate certain subcultures of visual art. As one of the more instantly recognizable dinosaurs, triceratops art finds itself near the top of this list.

As a plant – eater, Triceratops may not corner the market on fear and adrenaline like some of its contemporaries do, but its popular portrayal as a friendly but imposing beast does make it a frequent contender for triceratops art of a more family – friendly variety. “Triceratops” by June Erica Vess is an absolutely adorable rendering of the animal that makes it hard to believe Triceratops could ever have been anything other than completely charming! Regardless of its size!

A triceratops art print titled “Triceratops with Tyrannosaurus,” however, paints Triceratops in a considerably less amicable light. The intense, sketchy illustration creates a feeling of action and movement befitting the subject material—a clash between titans as Triceratops and the “king lizard” Tyrannosaurus Rex go head to head. The Triceratops is no victim, either—looking at this image makes you believe the three- horned champion probably came out on “top.”

Obviously, there are no existing photographs of ancient creatures like Triceratops, as we have only skeletons and fossils and the wild imaginations of dedicated fans to work with. That hasn’t stopped photorealistic images from dominating the triceratops art market, however. “Tyrannosaurus Standing in Front of a Group of Triceratops in a Field” tries to imagine what such a scene would have looked like if we could travel back in time and see it for ourselves up close.
