Good Housekeeping Art

Good Housekeeping magazine posters are unique, classic prints that anyone can enjoy. Each print is one of the covers of the classic magazine in years as early as 1924. Each unique cover has an adorable scene of children by themselves, with other children or with their mother. These covers show children being children even when dressed like an adult, and so they encourage the return to childhood that many adults so often want.

Good Housekeeping was originally started in 1885 by Clark W. Bryan. Its covers were originally sketches of quaint scenes, often of women keeping house. The magazine, as it is known today, typically has cover images of famous, empowered women; however, the classic covers from the early issues are the ones that are admired most.

Good Housekeeping classic covers often show children in cute situations where they are dressed and are acting like adults. For example, the cover for January 1930 depicts a child dressed as a pilot in front of a plane. The boy is standing in a childlike way while dressed like an adult, and many people have adored these types of images for ages. From sitting next to a riverbank to feeding a cat, these children are brought to a new light in the adult world.

While magazines now are often plastered with photos of famous people, Good Housekeeping used a timeless style to create works of art on their covers. The children depicted on their covers convey a sense of childhood and make adults reminisce and smile. These classic covers are the perfect way to take a trip back to a simpler time.
